#19: Week 2 at Uni and Week 5 in "Oz"
7.19.2018
It's hard to believe but this Sunday will be 5 whole weeks since I landed in Australia! I have been able to experience SO many things I never thought I would and have gotten to meet such great people from all over the world in such a short time! I'm still trying to adjust to highs in the low 50s everyday but I'm loving it so far.
My workload is already starting to pile up but having the lectures recorded and posted online along with the notes is incredibly helpful for review. I was even able to stay an extra day in Mornington this past weekend because I could just watch the lectures I missed when I made it back! I have a great study group for my online physics course and have met really sweet people in both Genetics and Health Behaviour to sit with and study with when assessments and final exams eventually roll around.
I'm definitely getting the hang of public transport (thanks to Google Maps), considering the most we have at home in Cocoa and around school in Tampa is a few scattered buses that basically just go to Walmart and back. The inconvenient thing about public transport is that it took us an hour to get into the centre of town which is only 8 miles away! However, the good thing about it is that with my student travel card, it cost less than $5 roundtrip! I'll take that over a Uber that would get me there faster and also break the bank.
My friend, Annie, and I went to a trivia event at a bar downtown called The Bottom End on Wednesday night and had great time, even though we lost! Technically it wasn't our fault since we can't say we know a lot of Australian trivia! Ironically, we won a free jug of beer for next time which neither one of us will use since we don't like beer! Oh well, it was still a fun time!

Saw the new Jurassic World. Worth the ridiculously expensive movie ticket just to see Chris Pratt and have reclining seats. Enough said.
#21: Saturday in the city
7.21.2018
Another beautiful day! Today, Annie and I went to the Queen Victoria Markets in the CBD. We had some delicious food from the local vendors and of course got suckered into buying a few touristy gifts, like keychains and shirts. Who cares if the shirt is cheaply made when it's only $2-4 AUD??
After wandering countless aisles, we headed over to the SeaLife Melbourne aquarium along the Yarra River. It was pretty busy since it's a Saturday, but there were lots of unique animals! I saw a cuttlefish in person for what I think was the first time today!! Most people thought it was a squid, but if you've ever learned about cuttlefish in school, you know there is no other animal out there quite like them!! Sharks, penguins, turtles, sea horses, rays, and of course countless beautiful fish (like black and white clownfish!). But don't forget, it's not an Australian zoo/aquarium without a few giant crocs!
I'm eager to know if you are enjoying this blog! I know that I'm enjoying making it for you all! Reach out to me on social media to let me know your thoughts or post in the survey down below :)
