Uni: Week Four

#23: Help...already...so...much...work!
8.2.2018

Now that the trimester is in full swing for the 4th week, I am definitely starting to notice my classwork pile up!  I have my first test next week and it's for Genetics so it's safe to say I'm a little worried... Fortunately, I've made a handful of good friends in the class that I'm going to study with and exchange notes! Physics is starting to become a bit overwhelming, too. It's hard enough having to take it online without a face-to-face lecture, but there is so much content to get through every week that it has been much more time consuming than it seemed like it would be. Though like Genetics, having friends taking it with me has definitely made the pain much more tolerable haha...

Not only has my new-student mentor group helped me make more friends, but it has also helped me learn even more about the campus! They showed us a sweet little community garden on the edge of campus where anyone in need can go and take some of what's being planted. There were cabbage plants, papaya trees, and even lavender ready to pick. At the end of every trimester, they take the leftover produce and have a free barbecue/picnic for any of the students that want to come by! I will definitely be checking that out!

#24: There's nothing a little bit of chocolate can't fix
8.4.2018

This weekend was so much fun! I went over to my friend Brittany's house to sleepover Friday night and had such a nice time having dinner and talking with her and her parents. They were so welcoming!! Saturday morning, Brittany and I went to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and it was just as awesome as you would think. Hundreds of flavours of chocolate all around and one wall was all glass, looking into the workers making the chocolates on the other side. However, the best part was the free samples at the front! I got a few little chocolates to take home, including ones filled with mango, passionfruit, lime, matcha, apple cider, and apricot! Just out front of the shop was acres of apricot, orange, lemon, and lime trees to walk through. The crazy part was as we pulled out of the parking lot to leave, out of the hundreds of songs in the playlist we had on shuffle, the one and only "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory came on!! What are the chances of that!!

After this, we went to the town of Healesville to walk the scenic strip of shops. We stopped at a classic Aussie bakery, filled with traditional pastries, meat pies, and more. I also got Brittany to try her very first Tootsie Roll at a cute little candy shop a few doors down! Apparently they're an American thing since she isn't the first Australian I've found who has never even heard of them! I'm not looking forward to spending the rest of the weekend studying for my Genetics test but I can't wait to come back to Brittany's house and try some more new things!
