#25: The dreaded "week before vacation"
8.10.2018
Eight weeks in Australia and five weeks of school done! How did that happen so fast??? It makes me so sad to think about coming up to my halfway point in a few weeks :( But on a more positive note, my list of things to do before leaving just keeps growing because there is an endless amount of things to do here! I have to visit the beach town with penguins, St. Kilda, do a tasting at Yarra Valley's blueberry winery, and visit the breathtaking Grampians national park! So much to look forward to in the coming weeks!
After barely surviving my Genetics exam on Monday, the rest of the week went uphill! I got caught up on school work, spent some time with friends, and did some planning for my trip after school is over to Cairns and the Sunshine Coast! Ha, from Melbourne, FL to Melbourne, AUS and from the Sunshine State to the Sunshine Coast! It was also bittersweet because it my last time meeting with my SEBE (Science, Engineering, and Built Environment) Peer-Mentor Group. The small group of us mentees was made up of new students from all parts of the world, including India, the Phillipines, and more, studying subjects like Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, and Wildlife Ecology. Our three mentors were so much fun and taught us new things about Deakin each week. Deakin is so diverse that none of the five of us who are new and only one of the three mentors is actually from Australia! We shared a lot of laughs in the last few weeks and I already miss their smiling faces! I am so grateful to have been a part of the group and to have met all of them!
Anyway, this next week is about to be one of the best ones yet! Not only do we have the whole week off for school for the Intra-Trimester break, but I'm going on an exciting trip!! I was gonna leave the location a surprise for my blog posts next week but just for all of you loyal readers, I'll reveal it a few days early. Stay tuned, and I'll see you next week when I get back from NEW ZEALAND!!!!!!
