#35: A day in St. Kilda
9.26.2018
No classes on a picture-perfect day means a trip to St. Kilda! My friend Pradheeka and I spent the day exploring this beautiful beachside city today! We had a bit of a hiccup halfway through the trip when the bus doors wouldn't shut, stopping the bus from moving so we all had to wait on the side of the road for the next bus! It was actually pretty entertaining watching one of the other ladies get super aggravated even though the next bus was only 20 minutes away...Plus it was a sunny day and 60 degrees so I can think of worse weather to be outside in!! Once the next bus arrived, we hopped on and finished the short journey to the beach!
Our first stop was Luna Park, a famous amusement park opened over a century ago in 1912! It was only $2 to enter and then you paid for each ride you wanted to go on. We went on the "Scenic Railway", which was actually a small rollercoaster (seen in the picture below behind the park's entrance) operated not by modern technology, but by a worker on board the cart breaking and accelerating it with a crank/lever by hand! Look it up on google to see, it was actually really cool!!
Next, we walked down to the beach and sat by the water, just taking in the peace around us and the sound of the waves. We wandered over to one of the main streets for an early dinner and then came back to the beach for the breathtaking sunset before heading back. It was not only the best Melbourne weather I've seen since arriving, but was also such a fun and relaxing day after a few really stressful weeks!

#36: No more classes!
9.27.2018
How did 11 weeks of classes and 15 weeks in Australia fly by in the blink of an eye? In exactly just a few weeks after my exams, my time at Deakin will be officially over! While I can't say I'll miss Genetics and Physics, I can definitely say I'll miss spending time making so many great friends in my classes!
Alessandra, Pradheeka, Nikki, and Mia: I wouldn't have made it through the genetics lectures without you all to make it more entertaining and bearable each time! Seriously, I think we all would've fallen asleep without each other!
Kelsey, Courtney, and Amara: We survived the prac! Thanks for being the best group I could've asked for, I genuinely looked forward to pracs just to hang out (and do a little bit of science). #spladgie
Brittany: Honestly, I probably would've skipped the awkward health seminars every week if I hadn't met you the first week!
Tanya and Kirsty: What would I have done without you guys to complain to about physics?? We can all agree it was the worst (funny but also not funny lol).
Thank you to everyone else not mentioned for giving me the best experience I could've imagined! From Urban Life to my Peer Mentor Group, thank you for introducing me to new friends-for-life and making me feel so at home here! Part of me wishes I could stay here and finish the rest of my degree, but don't tell my mom that ;) I'll miss getting a warm chai latte on a freezing day at the cafes on campus. I'll miss being able to watch the lectures from my bed instead of having to get up at the crack of dawn for a morning class (ugh). I'll miss seeing my new, wonderful friends everyday and our study/rant sessions. I will genuinely miss each of you and will never forget how memorable you've made this semester for me!
